Gehling earned NAIA All-American honors in 1977. He was named All-Region and All-District in 1976 and ’77. Keith was selected to the All-Tournament team and was chosen the Most Outstanding Defender in leading the Hawks to a second-place finish at the 1976 NAIA national tournament. He was an original member of the Wichita Wings in the Major Indoor Soccer League and played in the American Soccer League.
