Sanderson lettered as a freshman before leaving school to serve in the Navy while stationed in the Phillippines. His most memorable game was when he threw three touchdown passes in a win over Fort Hays State in 1948. He went on to become vice president of Hubbell Metals in Kansas City, Mo.
