Box Score 2 The Rockhurst Hawks opened their 2016 baseball season with a pair of wins over Lake Erie on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee. The Hawks won the first game 4-2 and completed the sweep with a 2-1 win in Game 2.
Tim Mahoney hit a three-run home run and
Michael Lydon-Lorson threw a complete game in the first game. Mahoney went deep over the left-field fence in the second inning.
Brett Marr added an RBI single in the third.
David Stober and
Seth Soto each posted two hits to lead the seven-hit Rockhurst attack. Lydon-Lorson allowed nine hits over seven innings while striking out three.
In the second game, the Hawks scored two runs on four hits in the fourth.
Nick Pascuzzi singled and scored on a wild pitch.
Brett Marr singled and scored on a single by
Henry Weiler.
Alex Merithew gave up five hits and one unearned run over six innings to collect the victory.
Thomas Cargile got the final three outs to pick up the save.
Rockhurst (2-0) will play another doubleheader with Lake Erie on Sunday in Nashville.
