Colton Wemhoff hit for the cycle to lead Rockhurst to a 16-6 victory over Lincoln in seven innings in the first game of Thursday doubleheader at Loyola Park. The Hawks completed the sweep with a 12-7 victory in the second game.
Game 1: RU 16, Lincoln 6
Wemhoff became the first Rockhurst player to hit for the cycle since the program was reinstated in 1994. The sophomore left fielder went for 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored. He had a two-run single in the first inning, a two-run home run in the second, a triple in the fourth and a double in the sixth.
Josh Syfert collected three hits, including a three-run home run in the third. Dakota Hanna drove in three runs. Avery Garmon tallied three hits and scored three runs. Michael Laudando and Kaden Jeffries each had two hits.
The Hawks scored three runs in each of the first three innings to take a 9-4 lead and added a six-run seventh to end the game early.
Brendan Rodis (4-3) allowed six runs on nine hits and struck out five in 5.0 innings.
Game 2: RU 12, Lincoln 7
The Hawks (20-11, 9-9 GLVC) scored six runs on seven hits in the first inning and added three more runs in the second.
Braeden Barbee led the Hawks with two hits and three RBI. Matt Bolinger and Jeffries each had two hits and drove in two runs.
Jack Miller hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Hanna collected an RBI double in the second.
Trent Clemons (1-2) gave up five runs on six hits and struck out two in 5.0 innings.
