Hawks combine for 26 runs in twinbill sweep

Colton Wemhoff combined for five hits and six RBI to lead Rockhurst to 12-5 and 14-2 wins over Lincoln in a Friday doubleheader at Loyola Park.

Game 1: RU 12, Lincoln 5

Wemhoff went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. He hit a three-run home run to left field in the fourth and added an RBI single in the third.

Dakota Hanna collected a two-run double in the third. Matt Bolinger tripled home two runs in the sixth. Afton Koch added two hits and drove in one run.

The Hawks scored four runs in the third and fourth innings to take an 8-3 lead. RU finished with 13 hits and eight extra-base hits.

Jacob Merithew (3-2) allowed five runs on six hits and struck out seven in 7.0 innings.

Game 2: RU 14, Lincoln 2

The Hawks (22-11,11-9 GLVC) scored five runs in the first inning and added six more runs in the third.

Michael Laudando led the Hawks with four hits and three RBI. He hit a two-run double in the third and an RBI double in the fourth.

Avery Garmon went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in four runs. He hit a three-run double in the first. Tyler Strongman drove in three runs and posted two hits.

Wemhoff finished with two hits and two RBI. Peyton Clerk added two hits and scored two runs.

Meade Rutherford (2-1) gave up two runs on six hits and struck out five in 4.0 innings.
