Men face Missouri S&T at GLVC Tournament

RU faces Missouri S&T for the third time this season
Second-seeded Rockhurst (19-11, 12-2 GLVC) faces third-seeded Missouri S&T (17-6, 11-3 GLVC) on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the GLVC Tournament semifinals at the Moloney Arena on the Maryville University campus.

This is the third matchup between the two schools this season, with the first two taking place in Rolla, Missouri. The Hawks won the first meeting in five sets on March 12 while Missouri S&T won the second meeting in five sets on March 13.

Rockhurst earned a share with Maryville of its first ever GLVC regular season championship in men's volleyball after earning a 12-2 league mark. The Hawks enter the GLVC Tournament as winners of 15 of their last 17 matches, as 12 of the 15 wins ended in three sets.
 
The Hawks rank fifth in the nation in assists with 1180 (11.13/set) and 24th in digs with 862 (8.13/set). Rockhurst also ranks 18th in hitting percentage (.288) and fifth in kills with 1258 (11.87/set). 

Missouri S&T split its last two matches of the regular season with Maryville, winning in three sets on April 15 before falling in five sets on April 18. The Miners have won 10 out of their last 11 matches.
 
 
Senior outside hitter Shay Spadaro ranked sixth in the conference in kills (305, 3.11/set), led the GLVC with 48 service aces and was third with 376.5 points (3.84/set). Sophomore middle blocker Aron DeRoy ranked second with 82 blocks. Graduate middle blocker Wesley Yusk led the league with 88 bocks. 

Sophomore setter Tyler Zippay was second in the GLVC in service aces (42) and average assists per set (9.66). Zippay's 734 total assists ranked fourth in the GLVC. Sophomore opposite hitter Lucas Tran ranks ninth in the conference in kills (199) and points (237) and tied for ninth in service aces (19).
 
Spadaro is fifth in the nation in service aces (48). Zippay ranks 17th in assists per set (9.66) and Yusk ranks tied for 18th with 88 blocks. 
 
Coach Corey Marks is in his third year as the head coach and has a 38-22 record at RU through the program's first two seasons. He directed the Hawks to a 19-11 record during the inaugural season in 2024-25, which was the best record by a first-year program in the NCAA that season,

The Missouri S&T Miners split their last two matches of the regular season with Maryville, winning in three sets on April 15 before falling in five sets on April 18. S&T has won 10 out of its last 11 matches.
 
The winners of the semifinal matches will face each other on Sunday at 12 p.m. for a shot at being crowned 2026 GLVC Men's Volleyball Champions.
 
For the second consecutive season, all GLVC Championship Tournament action will be streamed for $15 per match or $30 for the full tournament on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV.
