The Rockhurst University men's volleyball team has been recognized for its excellence in the classroom, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award released Thursday (July 23).

The AVCA Team Academic Award honors volleyball programs that maintain a year-long team grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. This year, a total of 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball programs across the country received the prestigious honor, highlighting the continued commitment of student-athletes to success both in the classroom and in competition.

Rockhurst's recognition comes on the heels of an outstanding 2026 season on the court. The Hawks finished with a 19-12 overall record and shared the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) regular season championship with a 12-2 conference mark. Rockhurst was especially dominant at Mason-Halpin Field House, posting a 14-1 home record while continuing to establish one of the toughest home-court advantages in the conference.

The AVCA Team Academic Award reflects the dedication of the entire program to balancing the demands of collegiate athletics and academics. The Hawks' success in the classroom mirrors the culture built throughout the program, where excellence is expected both on the court and in the pursuit of academic achievement.

Rockhurst's selection adds another achievement to a memorable year for the men's volleyball program, recognizing a season that featured both championship-level play and outstanding academic success.
