Hawks fall in five sets to Miners at GLVC semifinals

Second-seeded Rockhurst fell in five sets in the semifinals of the inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Volleyball Tournament. Third-seeded Missouri S&T used a 3-1 run to win the fifth set, 15-13, over the Hawks Saturday at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Hawks finish their season with a 19-12 mark, matching their win total from last season.

Missouri S&T took the first and third sets by a score of 25-21. RU won the second set, 25-20, and the fourth set, 25-17.

Shay Spadaro (19), Will Sutphen (17) and Lucas Tran (17) combined for 53 kills. Spadaro also led the Hawks with four service aces. 

Wesley Yusk had a team-leading three service aces. Nathan Jacques (30) and Tyler Zippay (19) tallied a total of 49 assists.

Ryan Collins (12) and Tran (10) had 22 combined kills.

Rockhurst finished with 62 kills, six service aces, six team blocks, 56 assists and 48 digs. 

Second-seeded Missouri S&T (18-6) will face top-seeded Maryville (18-7) in the GLVC Tournament Championship on Sunday at noon.
