Jarred Dixon is the newest member of the Rockhurst Men's Basketball coaching staff. Dixon will serve as an assistant coach under head coach Kyle Blackbourn.

Dixon has spent the past two years as the graduate assistant for the Providence College men's basketball team while earning his master's degree in higher education at Providence.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Dixon graduated from Missouri State in 2019 with a degree in sport and park administration.

Dixon played four years for the Missouri State Bears where he finished 15th on the MSU career scoring list (1,245 points), sixth in games played (128), fifth in minutes played (3,430) and 11th in steals (126). He finished with 64 career double-figure scoring games and was awarded MVC All-Bench Team honors, and he was MVC All-Freshman team selection. After college, he played abroad in Czech Republic and England.

"We are thrilled to add Coach Dixon to our staff," Blackbourn said. "He has had an outstanding playing experience from his time at Missouri State and as an overseas professional. He comes highly recommended from his time at Providence. Coach will be able to lean on his experiences to serve as an invaluable resource, offering mentorship, strategic insights, and support to enhance the development and performance of our student-athletes."

Patrick Surmeier returns for his 21st season as an assistant coach for the Hawks. He previously served as the head coach at Highland (Kan.) Community College and assistant coach at Fort Hays State University.

"Coach Surmeier's commitment, experience and passion for Rockhurst basketball is remarkable. We're fortunate to have him continue to make a positive impact on our program and the development of our student-athletes," Blackbourn said.

Levi Braun is entering his second year as a graduate assistant coach at Rockhurst. The former Washburn University basketball player will take over additional coaching responsibilities in his second year on staff.

"In his first season, Coach Braun exceeded the expectations of a typical graduate assistant," Blackbourn said. "As he enters his second season with us, we're excited to expand his responsibilities within the program. He is a rising star in the coaching profession, and we value the impact he makes on our team."

Nico Felici begins his first year as a graduate assistant coach at Rockhurst. Felici played in 86 games over the past three seasons for Hawks and received the Norman Majors Player of the Year award this year. Felici is working on his MBA degree at Rockhurst.

"Coach Felici brought tremendous leadership and a strong locker room presence for our team last season. We're excited to have him transition into a graduate assistant role and look forward to his growth as a coach within our program," added Blackbourn.
