Hawks announce new class heading into Costa Rica tour

Second-year head coach Kyle Blackbourn has announced the addition of four transfers and three freshmen to the 2025-26 men's basketball roster.

"We couldn't be more excited about this year's recruiting class. This group brings a unique combination of talent, athleticism, work ethic and character that fits perfectly with our program's culture," Blackbourn said. "The combination of our returning players and high-caliber newcomers creates a team we're thrilled to work with."

It won't take long for Blackbourn to see his team play together as the Hawks will be practicing for several days before going on a foreign tour to Costa Rica from Aug. 5-12.

"We're excited for our foreign tour next week," he added. "It's a great opportunity to build chemistry with our new group and begin laying the foundation for next season."

Landon Eiland, 6-5, GR: Another familiar face in the GLVC, this 6-5 forward has been a key player at Truman State University for the past three seasons. Eiland, who will be a graduate student, has started 47 games for the Bulldogs and is an excellent defender. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season.

Jack Scott, 6-9, GR: A stretch forward who can shoot the three, Scott played the two previous seasons in the NAIA at New College of Florida. The 6-9 forward scored 21 points in an exhibition game against NCAA D1 Stetson University. Last season, he averaged 10.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Drenin Dinkins, 6-0, SR: The 6-0 guard played the past three seasons at Southwest Baptist University. He averaged 18.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. The former Missouri High School Player of the Year was named to the GLVC All-Freshman team in 2022.

Peyton Newbern, 6-4, JR: The 6-4 transfer guard from Bemidji State University, Newbern was a medical redshirt last season after playing in eight games. He was a junior college All-American at North Dakota College of Science where he averaged 14.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.6 steals per game.

London Burton, 6-2, FR: The 6-2 guard from Olathe, Kansas had a great senior year at St. Thomas Aquinas averaging 15.4 points per game on the way to earning Second Team All-State honors.

Callen Eskew, 6-7, FR: Eskew is coming off an outstanding senior season at Rockhurst High School. The 6-7 First Team All-State forward averaged 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 62 percent from the field.

Matt Michalski, 6-11, FR: Michalski is from St. Louis (Christian Brothers College HS) is a powerful 6-11 center who will bring much needed size and inside scoring. Michalski is coming off an injury-hampered senior season after receiving First Team All-District honors in his junior season.
