Rockhurst men finish eighth in season opener

Colton Ellingsworth led a pack of runners for Rockhurst

The Rockhurst men's cross country team finished in eighth place with 207 points in their season opener at the J.K. Gold Classic Saturday in Wichita, Kansas.

Junior Max Hertenstein led the Hawks in 35th place in a time of 19:20 over the six-kilometer course. Sophomore Andrew Hartegan and sophomore Colton Ellingsworth finished in 48th and 56th place in 19:38 and 19:53.

Freshman Aidan McGarry (64th, 20:06), sophomore Colby Goddard (67th, 20:10), freshman Owen Hartline (75th, 20:25), junior Collin Fay (77th, 20:29) and freshman Aiden Amis (78th, 20:30) rounded out the top eight runners for Rockhurst.
