Three Hawks finished in the top 10 to lead the Rockhurst men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the season-opening GLVC Triangular at the Countryside Course Friday in Kirksville, Missouri.
The Hawks finished with 53 points, while host Truman State won the team title with 15 points.
Junior
Zach Hill led the Hawks in eighth place in a time of 14:16.08 over four kilometers, followed by freshman
Jack Del Vecchio in ninth place in 14:27.81 and
Peyton Hottovy in 10th place in 14:37.47.
Freshmen
Tyler Pedee (11th, 14:38.76) and
Alfonso Esqueda (15th, 15:23.14) rounded out the top five finishers for Rockhurst.
Alex Murray,
Matt Abeyta and
Eric Mata also finished under 17 minutes.
The Hawks will next compete in the GLVC Divisionals on Oct. 9 in Elsah, Illinois.
