Hawks finish second in “B” race at GLVC Championships

The Hawks finished second in the team standings in the GLVC "B" race.

The Rockhurst men's cross country team posted a second-place finish at the GLVC Championships "B" eight-kilometer race Saturday at the Principia College North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, Illinois.

Four Hawks finished in the top 16 as the Hawks collected 59 team points, eight points ahead of third-place Missouri-St. Louis. Truman State finished first with 15 points.

Zach Hill led Rockhurst in 10th place with a time of 28:27.55. Jack Del Vecchio (13th, 28:43.18), Peyton Hottovy (15th, 28:58.63) and Tyler Pedee (16th, 29:00.15) also finished in the top 16 for the Hawks. Alex Murray (26th, 29:57.1) was Rockhurst's No. 5 runner.

Alfonso Esqueda (32nd, 31:19.16), Eric Mata (33rd, 31:33.65), Christopher Joseph (34th ,31:43.18), Matt Abeyta (36th, 32:18.39), Daniel Suarez (37th, 32:40.90) and Trent Weigel (38th, 33:59.01) rounded out the Hawks' runners.
