The Rockhurst men's cross country team finished in fifth place in their first collegiate meet at the Cottey College Invitational Saturday in Nevada, Missouri.
The Hawks finished with 125 points, Missouri Valley won the team title with 31 points.
Peyton Hottovy led the Hawks in 16th place in a time of 28:44.28 over eight kilometers.
Jack Hitzemann finished 22nd in 29:43.38, followed by
Daniel Suarez in 28th place in 31:07.27.
Eric Mata (32nd, 31:15.31) and
Riley Brookins (37th, 31:51.72) rounded out the top five finishers for Rockhurst.

Christopher Joseph,
Matthew Abeyta and
Greg Frazier also finished in the top 50.
The Hawks will next compete in the Southern Stampede on Sept. 21 in Joplin, Missouri.
