Hawks open GLVC Tournament against UMSL

Avery Huffman led the Hawks with a 17-9 mark this season.
Fifth-seeded Rockhurst (30-18, 17-10 GLVC) faces fourth-seeded Missouri-St. Louis (26-24, 19-9 GLVC) to begin the GLVC Softball Tournament on Wednesday at noon at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois.

The Hawks will make their 10th trip to the GLVC Tournament and the fifth in the past six years.

In the double-elimination format, the winner of the Rockhurst-UMSL matchup will take on the winner of top-seeded Indianapolis and eighth-seeded Drury on Thursday at 1 p.m.

The teams who lose in the two contests on Wednesday will face each other in an elimination game on Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Hawks finished the regular season by winning 12 of their last 14 games, including a sweep of Lincoln in a doubleheader on Sunday in Jefferson City, Missouri. With the victory in game two against Lincoln, the Hawks posted their second 30-win season in program history and the first since 2017.

UMSL finished the regular season with a split against William Jewell on Sunday, May 3. The Tritons are making their 23rd appearance and first since 2024, including five conference championships.

The Hawks are 13-37 against the Tritons all-time dating back to 2006, but RU has won three of the past five games. Most recently, Rockhurst fell twice to UMSL, 3-2 in game one and 10-2 in game two, on March 14 at Loyola Park.

Each day of the four-day event, ticket prices will be $15 for adults, $5 for youth (ages 6-12th grade) and students (with ID), and children 5 and under are free. Tickets should be purchased prior to arrival at GLVCsports.com/tickets.
