Hawks stay alive with 5-2 win over McKendree

Emily Berry drove in three runs and Avery Huffman shut down second-seeded McKendree on four hits to lead seventh-seeded Rockhurst to a 5-2 rain-delayed win over McKendree at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Lebanon, Illinois to force the deciding game on Sunday at noon.
  • The Hawks have won 20 of their last 24 games and are now 38-20 on the season.
  • Berry smashed a two-run homer in the first and recorded an RBI double in the fourth. Her 14th home run of the year moves her into a tie for second in school history for the most home runs by a Hawk in a single season.
  • Mya Bristow hit a solo home run in the second.
  • Jazmyne Moreno stole two bases, including stealing home to score RU's last run of the game in the sixth. Moreno now has 34 steals on the season, becoming the second Hawk to surpass the school record for stolen bases in a single season (33). Eva Fulk also broke the record on May 8 vs. McKendree during the GLVC Tournament.
  • Huffman (23-11) allowed two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts. With the victory, Huffman set a new school record for most wins in a single season.
