Hawks selected as No. 7 seed in Midwest Regional

Rockhurst was selected as the No. 7 seed in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional
Rockhurst Softball earned an automatic bid to its first NCAA Division II Softball Tournament Championships in program history on Saturday by winning the program's first GLVC Softball Tournament Championship in school history under third-year head coach Dana Goss.

The NCAA DII Softball Championship Selection Committee announced seedings and locations on Monday. Seventh-seeded Rockhurst (35-19) will face second-seeded and No. 15 nationally ranked McKendree (43-14) in the opening round of the NCAA Midwest Regional on Thursday, May 14 in Lebanon, Illinois at 1 p.m.

The top two seeds in each region will host. Just before McKendree was announced as the second seed in the Midwest Region, No. 2 Indianapolis was unveiled as the Midwest Region's top seed. The double-elimination Midwest Regionals will be played concurrently from Thursday, May 14 through Saturday, May 16. Click here to view each regional bracket.

The winners of the two Midwest Regionals will face off in a best-of-three showdown at the Midwest Super Regional from Thursday, May 21-Friday, May 22 for the right to play at the NCAA DII Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee from May 28-June 3.

Friday, May 15
Game 3: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, 11 a.m.
Game 4: Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2, 1:30 p.m.
Game 5: Loser of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 4, 4 p.m.

Saturday, May 16
Game 6: Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 5, 1 p.m.
*Game 7 (if necessary): 3:30 p.m.
