Men to meet Drury in NCAA opener in Michigan

The Rockhurst men's tennis team is returning to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time since 2017 and the 14th time in school history. The Hawks (14-6) will play Drury (13-5) in the first round of the Midwest Regional on Friday at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.

Eight teams earned tickets to the Midwest Regional. Rockhurst is seeded fourth, while Drury is the No. 5 seed. The Hawks won their earlier meeting, 4-3, in Kansas City on April 26. This marks Drury's 25th trip to the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament.

The Rockhurst-Drury winner will face the winner of No. 1-seeded Grand Valley State (15-2) and No. 8 Tiffin (14-7) on Saturday in Allendale, Michigan. Grand Valley State is ranked 10th in the latest ITA national rankings, while Drury (35th) and Rockhurst (43rd) are both ranked in the Top 50.

Following the conclusion of region play, 16 teams will advance to play at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Single elimination competition begins on May 20 and continues through the national championship on May 24.
