The Rockhurst men's tennis team put together a strong showing at the ITA Midwest Regional, held Oct. 17-19 in Michigan, highlighted by three undefeated singles performances and several successful runs in consolation and doubles competition.

Arnav Gannavaram, Benjamin VanLandingham and Dylan Rainwater led the Hawks with perfect 3-0 singles records, while Creed Skinner and Henry Redfern each finished 3-1 in singles action. Gannavaram, Rainwater and Skinner tied for the team lead with five combined singles and doubles victories.

Gannavaram was dominant throughout the weekend, opening with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Tiffin's Mason Pierri on Saturday. He followed with a three-set win over Quincy's Rodrigo Coello Trevino on Sunday before defeating fourth-seeded Bautista Rooney of Missouri-St. Louis, 6-2, 6-1, to finish unbeaten in singles competition.

VanLandingham also posted a perfect 3-0 singles record, beginning with a straight-set victory over Tiffin's Samuel Rossi. His most impressive performance came Sunday against second-seeded Carson Coles of Ferris State, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. He closed his singles competition with a hard-fought three-set win over McKendree's Roberto Vega.

Rainwater, seeded fourth in his draw, matched his teammates with three consecutive singles victories. After defeating Maryville's Luca Morbioli in three sets Saturday, Rainwater earned a straight-set victory over Tiffin's Émile Laflamme. He capped his weekend with a comeback victory over Missouri-St. Louis' Joan Garros, 0-6, 6-2, 10-8.

The Hawks also received strong performances from Skinner and Redfern, who each bounced back from opening-round losses to win three consecutive consolation singles matches.

Skinner picked up victories over Tiffin's Tom Van Nooten, Findlay's Grant Hawkins and Davenport's Ian Moreira. Redfern earned wins over Grand Valley State's Jorge Ruiz, Cedarville's Taylor Jenkins and Indianapolis' Mateya Stanisavljevic, closing his singles competition with three straight victories.

Several other Hawks contributed singles wins throughout the tournament. Alex Tikhonov, Tommy Griese and Aleksa Postic each earned main-draw victories, while Jannis Piliar, Killian Guillou, Diego Schtulmann, Oliver Dickason and Henry Jacobs recorded wins in consolation competition.

In doubles action, Tikhonov and Dickason led Rockhurst in the main draw with a 2-1 record. The seventh-seeded pairing defeated Davenport and Walsh by identical 8-5 scores before narrowly falling to second-seeded Kevin Kovacs and Luke Laughlin of Ferris State, 9-8, in the quarterfinals.

The Hawks also had several strong performances in consolation doubles. Skinner and Rainwater finished with two consecutive victories, defeating Illinois Springfield, 8-0, and Davenport, 8-2. Gannavaram and Piliar matched that effort with an 8-4 victory over Tiffin and an 8-6 win over Illinois Springfield.

Diego Schtulmann and VanLandingham added an 8-1 doubles victory over Quincy, while Guillou and Postic earned an 8-6 consolation win against Michigan Tech.

With several draws affected by team withdrawals due to travel and scheduling, Rockhurst's individual records highlighted a productive weekend of regional competition. The Hawks finished with three unbeaten singles players, two additional players with three singles victories and multiple doubles teams posting winning performances.
