Hawks face Thomas More at Mason-Halpin

The Hawks are on a three-match winning streak entering this weekend.

RU Men's Volleyball returns to Mason-Halpin Field House to face Thomas More on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at noon.

The Hawks won all three of their matches last week, beginning with a match-winning block by Max Tkachev, Shay Spadaro and Daniel Mekonen that sealed a five-set victory over Maryville last Friday in St. Louis, Missouri. Lucas Tran led Rockhurst in kills with 19 and added two service aces.

Rockhurst also won both matches last Saturday against Central Christian in three sets each at Mason-Halpin. In the first match, Carson Pliapol led the Hawks with eight kills while Tyler Bittel (five) Spadaro (three) and Nate Barton (two) combined for nine service aces.

During the second match, Beau Cecil led the Hawks with eight kills. Harms had seven kills, and a team-leading seven digs and two service aces. Billy Harms, Cecil (four), Riley Brown (four) and Bailey McCue (six) combined for 21 digs.

Mekonen was named the IVA Defensive Player of the Week. Mekonen posted 11 blocks and three digs in seven sets.

Thomas More (4-4) fell to Missouri S&T in three sets last Sunday before defeating Central State in three sets on Wednesday. The Saints will face Purdue-Fort Wayne on Friday before their matches against the Hawks on Saturday and Sunday.
