McCall, Berry lead Hawks to 3-0 road win

Madeline McCall pitched a complete game shutout during game two against Upper Iowa on Saturday.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 A five-hit shutout by Madeline McCall and two RBI from Emily Berry led Rockhurst to a 3-0 win over Upper Iowa in Game Two of a Saturday doubleheader in Fayette, Iowa. Rockhurst fell 5-3 to Upper Iowa in Game One after dropping a pair to Lewis (1-0 in eight innings and 11-2 in five innings) in a Friday doubleheader in Rosemont, Illinois.

Game Two vs. Upper Iowa: Rockhurst 3, Upper Iowa, 0
Berry scored on a throwing error to take a 1-0 lead in the second. During the top of the third, Berry recorded an RBI after reaching on a fielder's choice that pushed the Rockhurst lead to 2-0.

An RBI double by Berry extended the Rockhurst lead to 3-0 in the fifth. 

McKenna Lester and Ceara Swanson tallied two hits along with Berry. Kerstyn Finch and Eva Fulk each had a hit.

Finch and Lester scored runs and Swanson recorded an RBI. Both of Lester's hits were doubles. McCall struck out three during her complete game shutout.

Game One vs. Upper Iowa: Upper Iowa 5, Rockhurst 3
Upper Iowa scored four in the first to take a 4-0 lead. Rockhurst answered with three in the top of the sixth after a two-run double by Claire Tipton and a Lester RBI single.
 
An RBI groundout by the Peacocks extended their lead to 4-3 after six innings. 

Fulk and Tipton both recorded two hits. Avery Huffman, Jayla Pierce and Mya Bristow all collected a hit along with Lester. Tipton, Bristow and Huffman all also tallied a double.

Huffman (1-7) pitched a complete game for the second day in a row, striking out five in six innings.

Game One vs. Lewis: Lewis 1, Rockhurst 0 (eight innings)
Lewis collected an RBI single in the eighth to give the Flyers the win.

Fulk, Berry and Claire Long all collected a hit while Fulk recorded a stolen base and Long recorded a double.

Huffman pitched 7.2 innings and allowed five hits while striking out 11. 

Game Two vs. Lewis: Lewis 11, Rockhurst 2 (5 inn.)
Finch scored on a wild pitch to give Rockhurst a 1-0 lead in the first. Lewis answered with two in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.

The Flyers scored two in the second, six in the third and one in the fourth to extend their lead to 11-1. Rockhurst added one in the top of the fifth with a Tipton RBI single.

Finch, Fulk and Long collected hits along with Tipton. Fulk and Kaylee Pugh recorded a stolen base, as Long tallied her second double in as many games against Lewis.

Rockhurst returns home to Loyola Park next weekend, facing Truman State on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and Quincy on Sunday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
