The Rockhurst men's volleyball team heads back on the road this weekend for three matches, as two are against ranked teams. The Hawks face No. 12 Lewis Friday at 7 p.m. in Romeoville, Illinois. A doubleheader awaits on Saturday in Chicago, Illinois, as the Hawks play Saint Francis at 1 p.m. and No. 8 Loyola Chicago at 7 p.m.
The Hawks played their first two matches in program history last weekend and both were hard-fought matches. Rockhurst fell 3-0 in close sets to Lindenwood last Friday and dropped a five-set match with then No. 20 McKendree last Saturday.
Last weekend, Lucas Tran notched 27 kills. Nathan Jacques recorded 83 assists as Shay Spadaro had three service aces. On the defensive side, Max Tkachev had 21 digs and Jacques collected 10 blocks.
Lewis (3-0) started the year on a three-game winning streak, including a top 10 victory. The Jets won 3-0 against Maryville, then defeeated No. 8 Penn State and Roosevelt.
Saint Francis (0-3) faced three ranked teams to start the season, falling 3-0 to then No. 18 UC San Diego, then No. 1 UCLA and then No. 2 Long Beach State. The Red Flash face Loyola on Friday evening before facing Rockhurst on Saturday.
Loyola (2-0) defeated Penn State and Maryville 3-1 on back-to-back days on Jan. 10-11. The Ramblers play against Saint Francis on Friday evening before their matchup with the Hawks on Saturday night.
