Five Hawks named to Academic All-District Team

The Rockhurst softball team placed five student-athletes on the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

The five student-athletes to earn the distinction are Maya Gallagher, Lauren Good, Avery Huffman, Anna Newcomer and Jayla Pierce. This is the second career Academic All-District honors for Gallagher and Pierce.

Gallagher, a graduate student from Olathe, Kansas, batted a team-high .324 with five home runs and 18 RBIs.

Good, a sophomore third baseman from Lee's Summit, Missouri, scored 23 runs with a .223 batting average.

Huffman, a sophomore pitcher from Grain Valley, Missouri, collected a 9-13 record and 3.65 ERA. She struck out 90 in 120 innings.

Newcomer, a senior from Omaha, Nebraska, posted a 5-6 record with a 4.86 ERA in 76.1 innings.

Pierce, a junior first baseman from Linwood, Kansas, batted .250 with eight home runs and 20 RBIs.
