Three Hawks receive All-GLVC first team honors

Senior relief pitcher Jake Canent, junior outfielder Adonis Forte and junior pitcher/infielder Michael Laudando earned First Team All-Conference honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, conference officials announced on Tuesday (May 7).

Canent is the conference leader in wins (10) and ranks fourth in the GLVC in saves (6). He has a 3.77 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 59.2 innings.

Forte leads the Hawks with a .388 batting average, .624 slugging percentage, .483 on-base percentage and 106 total bases. He has hit seven home runs and driven in 40 runs.

Laudando is the Hawks' top starting pitcher with a 7-4 record, 4.46 ERA and team-high 77 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. He is also plays second base, hitting .329 with three home runs and 31 RBIs. Laudando was named first team All-GLVC at the utility spot and second team as a starting pitcher.

Junior first baseman Drew Cornelison was also recognized as the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winner for Rockhurst. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners.

The Hawks (27-22) open play in the GLVC Baseball Tournament this afternoon against Maryville University in Marion, Illinois.
