Four Hawks earn First Team All-GLVC honors

Four members of the Rockhurst baseball team earned first team postseason honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, conference officials announced on Tuesday (May 5).

Senior utility player Michael Laudando earned All-GLVC First Team honors for the fourth time.

Laudando started all 49 games for the Hawks, primarily as a first baseman. He batted .399 with 21 extra-base hits and 44 RBI. On the mound, he collected a 2-0 record, 3.92 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.

Junior shortstop Dakota Hanna, sophomore outfielder Colton Wemhoff and freshman  pitcher Keller Costello received All-GLVC honors for the first time.

Hanna ranks second in RBI (69) and 19th in batting average (.377) in the GLVC. He hit 10 home runs and stole 16 bases.

Wemhoff ranks second in on-base percentage (.529), third in doubles (19), fifth in batting average (.413) and eighth in slugging percentage (.688) in the GLVC. He also collected five home runs and 52 RBI.

Costello led the Hawks with a 2.70 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 43.1 innings while posting a 5-1 record.

Junior Afton Koch was also recognized as the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winner for Rockhurst. He is now eligible to become one of the school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners.
