Hawks end season with first-round loss in Illinois

Rockhurst dropped its opening-round game in the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Tournament Wednesday at Mtn. Dew Park in Marion, Illinois.

Illinois Springfield (34-17) scored eight runs in the first inning in posting a 20-1 win over the Hawks in seven innings.

Rockhurst took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Michael Laudando. Josh Syfert led off the game with a walk. Syfert stole second and scored on Laudando's single through the right side.

Laudando walked in the third and added another single in the sixth. Luke Feucht singled in the second and walked in the fifth. Syfert added a single in the fifth.

Three Prairie Star pitchers held Rockhurst to four hits while walking four batters.

The Hawks end their season with a 30-19 record.
