Women end Florida trip with win over Palm Beach Atlantic

Emma Coleman went 3-0 in singles and is now ranked 5th nationally

The Rockhurst women's tennis team wrapped up their spring break trip to Florida with a 5-2 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic Tuesday in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Rockhurst jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after winning two doubles matches. Sofia Valdespino and Marina Magai won No. 1 doubles, 6-0. Ella Coleman and Zuzanna Szmyd posted a 6-3 win in No. 2 doubles.

The Hawks won three singles matches. Coleman won No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-4, while Magai posted a 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 3 singles. Dani Lentisco and Maria Baez were winners in No. 4-5 singles.

Rockhurst opened the trip in Orlando with a 4-3 loss to Ferris State on March 9 and fell to seventh-ranked Lubbock Christian on March 10.

Coleman, who moved up to No. 5 natinally in the ITA singles rankings, who both of her No. 1 singles matches. Magai and Lentisco also won their singles matches against Ferris State.

The Hawks (7-3) host Fort Hays State on March 22.
