The Rockhurst softball team opened the season with a 2-2 record at the ESU Classic in Emporia, Kansas. The Hawks posted a 10-1 win over Mary on Saturday and edged Wayne State College, 2-1, on Sunday. Sioux Falls shut out the Hawks on two hits in 9-0 win on Saturday and Mary blanked the Hawks, 4-0, on Sunday.

Game One: Rockhurst 10, Mary 1 (5 inn.)

Avery Huffman struck out four in 5.0 innings. The Hawks scored three runs in the second inning and six runs in the third.

• Cheyenne Minnick posted two hits including a two-run single.
• Kerstyn Finch drove in two runs.
• Maya Gallagher and Emma Vodnansky each had two hits.

Game Four: Rockhurst 2, Wayne State 1                     

Huffman held the Wildcats to one run on four hits with eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings. The Hawks scored in the first and sixth innings.

• Emily Berry led the Hawks with two hits with an RBI single.
• Emilee Farnan singled home the winning run in the sixth.
• Finch and Berry scored runs.
