Hawks host SBU in conference opener

The Hawks open the conference season at home on Saturday.

Great Lakes Valley Conference play begins Saturday for the Rockhurst volleyball team. The Hawks host Southwest Baptist at 3 p.m. at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks (7-2) are hoping to rebound from a 3-1 loss at home to nationally-ranked Central Missouri last Friday. Junior libero Maureen Reilly leads the GLVC with 5.50 digs per set. Junior right side hitter Tera Reberry ranks ninth in kills (3.0 per set) in the GLVC. Junior setter Sarah Montague ranks eighth in service aces and 10th in assists in the GLVC.

Southwest Baptist (6-5) is riding a three-game winning streak since losing to Rockhurst by a 3-1 score on Sept. 3 in the Drury/SBU Tournament in Bolivar, Missouri. Sophomore Azalea Clendenning leads the Bearcats with 2.66 kills per set.

The Hawks have won the last seven meetings with SBU dating back to 2015.
