Ali Olson combined for 23 kills to lead Rockhurst to a 3-2 victory over No. 11 Missouri Western (25-23, 25-15, 17-25, 17-25, 15-12) during game two on Saturday at the Fairfield Inn Griffon Volleyball Classic on Saturday in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Tyrrell tallied a team-high 12 kills and added 10 digs and 12.5 points. Olson recorded 11 kills, four blocks, 13 points and a .714 hitting percentage.
Abby Boyd led the Hawks in digs with 15 and added four assists.
Kaitlyn Dumpit had a team-high 23 assists along with 11 digs.
Bailey Donnelly had four service aces to lead Rockhurst and notched six digs.
As a team, Rockhurst finished with 57 kills, six service aces, nine team blocks, 55 assists and 70 digs. The Hawks also had a .412 hitting percentage against the Griffons.
Earlier on Saturday, the Hawks won in five sets over Northern State (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 24-26, 15-9). RU finished with 73 kills and a .359 hitting percentage, including 10 kills with only one error in the fifth set.
Victoria Gray recorded team-highs in points (20.5) and kills (20) while recording a .459 hitting percentage.
Riley Hays collected 19.5 points, 19 kills, six digs and led the team with a .567 hitting percentage.
Tyrrell tallied 17 kills, 17.5 points and six digs.
Molly Trachta led RU with 36 assists and added eight digs and a service ace. Boyd notched 16 digs to lead the Hawks.
The Hawks finished with four service aces, six team blocks, 71 assists and 67 digs.
