Four Hawks combined for 28Â kills to lead Rockhurst to a win in straight sets over Northwest Missouri State during their home opener on Friday inside Mason-Halpin Field House. The Hawks have now won three consecutive matches.
Northwest Missouri State took a 16-12 lead in the first set before the Hawks moved ahead 22-16 after a 10-0 run. Rockhurst went on to win 25-23 after a Bearcats' service error.
The Hawks used a 10-4 run to close out the second set, 25-18. RU began the third set on a 13-1 run before finishing the match 25-7 with a
Chloe Tyrrell kill.
Delaney Hope recorded six blocks and a .600 hitting percentage. Tyrrell notched three service aces, nine digs and a .500 hitting percentage.
Avery DeLong and
Victoria Gray also had seven kills.Â
Molly Trachta recorded 18 assists, seven digs and two service aces.
Carlie Pandjaris tallied 11 digs and two service aces.Â
Ali Olson had five kills, three blocks and a .455 hitting percentage.
As a team, the Hawks had eight service aces, nine team blocks, 36 assists and 48 digs. Rockhurst hit .376 with 41 kills and held the Bearcats to a .100 hitting percentage.
Rockhurst (4-4) hosts Northwest Missouri State on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Mason-Halpin Field House.
