Hawks open GLVC tourney against Indianapolis

The Hawks have won eight of their last 10 games.
Rockhurst returns to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Championship Tournament for the second year in a row and for the seventh time in school history.

The Hawks (23-23, 15-13 GLVC) enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face second-seeded Indianapolis (45-7, 24-4 GLVC) at 3 p.m. Thursday. The Greyhounds swept a doubleheader at Rockhurst earlier this season, 8-0 and 2-1.

Lindenwood (34-10, 21-7) and Missouri-St. Louis (28-21, 16-12) are the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, respectively, and will play one another in the opening game at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Top-seeded Southern Indiana (40-10, 26-2) will square off with No. 8 seed Maryville (17-24, 12-16) at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Drury (35-14, 21-7) snagged the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed Illinois Springfield (31-18, 15-13) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

This season marks the 18th consecutive year the league postseason tournament will be held at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois. The winner will receive the league's automatic-qualifying bid to the 2022 NCAA Midwest Regional.

The format this year will look a little different than previously, as just four games will be played each of the first three days on one field, and the championship game(s) will be played Sunday.

Each day of the event, ticket prices will be $12 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 6-17) and students (with ID), while children 5 and under are free. The adult and youth/student tickets can be purchased at GLVCsports.com/tickets.
