Three Hawks earn All-GLVC honors

Justice Wingate was named to the All-GLVC First Team.
Three players from Rockhurst earned postseason honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Thursday on the eve of the GLVC Volleyball Championship Tournament in East Peoria, Illinois.

Justice Wingate earned All-GLVC First Team honors. The senior middle hitter ranks second in the GLVC in blocks per set (1.22). She is also second on the team with 2.49 kills per set.

Senior outside hitter Averi Vomastic and sophomore libero Maureen Reilly were named to the All-GLVC Second Team. Vomastic leads the Hawks with 353 kills (3.12 per set) and ranks third on the team with 254 digs (2.25 per set). Reilly, a two-time GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, ranks third in the conference with 4.84 digs per set.

The league also recognized 15 GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sophia Moes is Rockhurst's nominee and is now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.

The Hawks (20-10) will play Southern Indiana (17-12) in the quarterfinals of the GLVC Tournament at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
