Sarah Pyle collected 17 kills, 12 digs and a .500 hitting percentage to lead seventh-seeded Rockhurst past second-seeded Ohio Dominican, 3-0, in the NCAA Midwest Regional quarterfinals Thursday on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus.
Rockhurst will face third-seeded Ferris State in the regional Semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m. at UMSL.
Alyssa McDonald tallied 11 kills with a .625 hitting percentage and posted three blocks. Molly Trachta had 24 assists and two service aces.
Ali Olson led Rockhurst with four blocks. Mary Kate Mulvaney tallied 12 assists and Katie Vargo collected 12 digs.
Set One: Rockhurst 25, Ohio Dominican 22
After the set was tied at 19, the Hawks ended the set on a 6-3 run. Pyle finished with seven kills and Trachta recorded eight assists.
Set Two: Rockhurst 25, Ohio Dominican 20
With the set tied at seven, Rockhurst went on a 9-4 run to take a 16-11 lead. McDonald tallied five kills, two blocks, a dig and a .625 hitting percentage.
Set Three: Rockhurst 25, Ohio Dominican 21
The Panthers took a 19-17 lead in the third set before the Hawks closed the match on an 8-2 run. Vargo had four digs, while Trachta and Mulvaney combined for 10 assists.
