Volleyball signs six high school standouts

Coach Trent Jones is excited about his 2022 recruiting class.
Rockhurst volleyball coach Trent Jones announced the signing of six high school standouts in the early signing period: Emaree Harris, Alyssa McDonald, Sarah Pyle, Sydney Raszler, Carly Rolf and Lexi Theis.

"I can't be more excited for this recruiting class," Jones said. "With such a large number of our roster graduating I felt like it was important to recruit high-level student-athletes to add to the team. Not only are all six standouts on the volleyball court, but they are standouts in the classroom as well.

"As I think about this group as a class the overwhelming characteristic that comes to mind is athleticism. I really like recruiting athletes, then training and coaching them up in the game of volleyball. The 2022 class will be a great foundation for the recruits that follow in the next few years."

Emaree Harris | Middle Hitter | 6-2 | Lincoln, Neb. | Raymond Central HS
Coach Jones: "Emaree is a middle hitter from Nebraska that is also fairly new to the game of volleyball. Her height, long arms and quickness make her a perfect fit at the middle position. Emaree comes to us from the same club as Lexi Theis where they will be teammates this upcoming club season. Emaree's potential at the position is very exciting to think about. I can't wait to be able to work with her in the gym and see what she can become."

Alyssa McDonald | Right Side Hitter | 6-0 | Overland Park, Kan. | Shawnee Mission South HS
Coach Jones: "Alyssa is another Kansas City recruit that I feel very excited to be adding to our program. Her athleticism is very impressive and Alyssa has a very high contact on the ball. With only playing high level volleyball for the last two years there is no doubt that her best days of volleyball are still ahead of her. Alyssa has amazing potential and I am excited to see where she takes it."

Sarah Pyle | Outside Hitter | 5-10 | Overland Park, Kan. | St. Thomas Aquinas HS
Coach Jones: "Sarah is a very dynamic outside hitter with tremendous jumping ability and fast arm swing. Being a Kansas City native and daughters of Rockhurst alumni, Sarah felt like a natural fit here at Rockhurst. Sarah was one the first recruiting calls I made when I took over last year as the Rockhurst head coach, and I am so excited that she has chosen Rockhurst."

Sydney Raszler | Middle Hitter | 6-0 | Elkhorn, Neb. | Elkhorn HS
Coach Jones: "Sydney is a middle hitter that has been playing for one of the best club teams in her age group. Sydney is very fast laterally and is really good at attacking off one foot. She will be a natural fit in our offense and what we are trying to do with our middle attackers. Her experience in both high level prep and club should prepare her well for GLVC volleyball."

Carly Rolf | Setter | 5-9 | Bettendorf, Iowa | Assumption HS
Coach Jones: "Carly is a setter with really nice athleticism and leadership qualities. Watching Carly over the last year and a half, she continues to improve every time I get a chance to watch her. Her hustle and willingness to train hard every day are such important skills to have at the setter position. Carly has had a lot of success in her high school career, and I look forward to her doing the same here."

Lexi Theis | Outside Hitter | 5-11 | Geneva, Neb. | Fillmore Central HS
Coach Jones: "Lexi is an outside hitter with good height at the position and a heavy arm. Lexi has the potential to play six rotations for us and contribute early on in her career here at Rockhurst. Lexi comes from a great club up in Nebraska and I feel very fortunate to have come across her team's court at a tournament."
