Schaefer wins GLVC Triangular race in Kirksville

Hannah Schaefer's winning time was 15:55.26 over the 4K course.

Hannah Schaefer grabbed first place honors to lead the Rockhurst women's cross country team to a second place finish at the season-opening GLVC Triangular at the Countryside Course Friday in Kirksville, Missouri.

Schaefer's winning time was 15:55.26 over the 4K course. Maggie Moyer followed in sixth place for Rockhurst in a time of 16:45.57. The Hawks finished behind host Truman State with 48 points.

Kathleen Gansner was the Hawks' third runner in 12th place at 17:47.04, followed by Faith Fritschle (14th, 17:51.82) and Brooke Fredrickson (15th, 17:52.68).

Lauren DeWitt (16th), Marianna Donze (17th), Sarah Matt (18th) and Natalie Harsh (19th) also finished under 19 minutes for the Hawks.

Rockhurst will next compete in the GLVC Divisionals on Oct. 9 in Elsah, Illinois.
