Hawks finish second at Emporia State Invite

Hannah Schaefer led the Hawks in fourth place at the ESU Invitational.

The Rockhurst women's cross country team finished in second place at the Emporia State Invitational Friday in Emporia, Kansas.

Rockhurst tied with meet champion Fort Hays State with 37 points, but lost the tie-breaker to the Tigers.

The Hawks were led by Hannah Schaefer in fourth place with a time of 20:23.81 over the 5K course. Maggie Moyer, Sarah Harig and Emily Dickson were right behind Schaefer in fifth, sixth and seven place.

Freshman Lauren DeWitt was Rockhurst's No. 5 runner in 24th place. Kathleen Gansner, Carmen Macias, Mallory Dittemore, Ellan Harder and Maggie Witt rounded out the Hawks' top 10 runners.

The Hawks will next compete in the Rim Rock Farm Collegiate Classic on Oct. 5 in Lawrence, Kansas.
