Hanna Stam and Truitt to cut the deficit in half at 4-2. The Hawks capitalized on a pair of Southern errors to tie the game at four as
Calli Wibbenmeyer and Clark came around to score.
Southern struck back in the bottom of the third to take a 6-4 lead.
Trailing by two in the fifth inning,
Taylor Rupe singled home Clark and
Katie Wood to tie the game at six. With two on and two out, Truitt put the Hawks in front for good with a three-run blast to left field.
Shannon Greene protected the lead in the last three frames as the Hawks held on for the victory. Greene tossed 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs.
Truitt finished the game two-for-three with three RBIs and two runs scored. Clark was two-for-three with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Hawks dropped their second game of the day, 13-4, against Northwest Missouri State. Truitt and
Payton Staggs each drove in two runs.
