Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Rockhurst men's tennis team kicked off their spring season over the weekend with two dual victories in Grand Island, Nebraska. 

The Hawks defeated Hastings College on Friday, 6-1, and Augustana (S.D.) University on Saturday, 6-1.

Coach Carolina Mayorga-Perry said of the victories, "It was a good start to the season and introduction to our new (7-point scoring) format. From the top down in singles everyone competed well and took care of early leads."

Senior leader Tarass Thevenaz set the tone for the Hawks vs. Augustana. "Tarass helped switch the momentum by taking the lead and winning the match at the No. 1 singles spot decisively," Mayorga-Perry said.

The Hawks return to action Friday vs. William Woods University at the Carriage Club in Kansas City, Missouri and an exhibition match Saturday vs. Ottawa University at the Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kansas.
