Box Score 2 Emily Truitt had a record-breaking day for Rockhurst, recording four triples in a 10-4 win over Northwood Friday at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.
Truitt is the first NCAA Division II player to ever have four triples in one game, and just the second player at all three NCAA levels to accomplish the feat (first since a Division III player in 1992).
Truitt tripled to center in the first inning to drive in one run and tripled to center in the third inning to drive in two more runs. Truitt tripled again to center in the fifth inning for RBIs four and five, and collected her record-breaking fourth triple to center in the seventh inning.
The Hawks jumped out to an 8-0 lead over Northwood with two runs in the first inning, four in the second inning and two more in the top of the third.
Katie Wood had two hits, including an inside-the-park home run.
Payton Staggs had two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Calli Wibbenmeyer collected two hits and three RBIs.
Shannon Greene pitched five innings for Rockhurst, tallying five strikeouts with four runs (all unearned).
Paige Renner threw the final two innings for the Hawks, retiring all six batters she faced.
Earlier in the day, the Hawks dropped a 7-5 decision to Tiffin University. Staggs, Wood and Shelby Winkleman all collected two hits for Rockhurst.
