Marks leads Hawks to pair of wins over Maryville

Lauren Marks drove in the winning run in Game 1.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lauren Marks hit a walk-off double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Rockhurst a 2-1 victory over Maryville in the first game of a conference doubleheader Monday at RU's Loyola Park. The Hawks completed the sweep with an 8-0 mercy rule win in the second game.

Marks hit a 2-2 pitch to left-center to bring home Hanna Stam with the winning run from second base. Stam reach base on an infield error and advanced to second on a single up the middle by Taylor Rupe.

Halle Koelliker singled and scored on an outfield error in the fourth. Rupe posted two of the Hawks' six hits. Shannon Greene allowed one run on six hits over 7.0 innings.

In the second game, the Hawks scored five runs in the first inning and added two runs in the fifth. Megan Freitag hit a three-run double in the first and a run-scoring double in the fifth.

Marks, Freitag, Danielle Cross and Madison Wagner each collected two hits. Greene (16-15) shut out the Saints on eight hits in 5.0 innings.

Rockhurst (16-21, 10-6 GLVC) plays at Southern Indiana on Saturday.
