Hawks capture 13-inning marathon over Bellarmine

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 In her final home game, senior first baseman Danielle Cross singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning to give Rockhurst a 2-1 victory over Bellarmine in the second game of a conference doubleheader Sunday at RU's Loyola Park.

Cross singled up the middle with one out to drive home Emily Truitt from third base. Truitt led off the 13th with a single to right field and advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt and wild pitch.

Lauren Marks gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead with a home run to left field in the sixth inning. The Knights tied the score with a run in the top of the seventh.

Truitt led the Hawks with three hits. Taylor Rupe and Marks each posted two hits. Shannon Greene won her 19th game of the season, allowing one runs on 12 hits over 13.0 innings.

In the first game, Bellarmine shut out the Hawks on seven hits, 2-0. The Knights scored both of their runs in the third inning.

Kelsey Tepen and Madison Wagner each had two hits to lead the Hawks. Greene allowed two runs on four hits over 7.0 innings.

Rockhurst (19-26, 13-11 GLVC) closes out the regular season at Lewis and Illinois Springfield April 28-29.
