Hawks fall twice by one run at Southern Indiana

Madison Wagner hit a three-run triple in Game One.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Southern Indiana scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally for a 6-5 victory over Rockhurst in the first game of a conference doubleheader Friday in Evansville, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles also won the second game, 1-0.

Danielle Cross posted two hits with an RBI single for the Hawks in the second. Madison Wagner hit a three-run triple and Taylor Rupe added an RBI single to give Rockhurst a 5-1 lead in the second. Shannon Greene allowed six runs on nine hits over 6.0 innings.

In the second game, Southern Indiana led off the bottom of the seventh with a double and scored the winning run on a groundout to the shortstop.

Hanna Stam, Emily Truitt and Kelsey Tepen collected the Hawks' three hits. Greene (16-17) gave up one run on nine hits over 6.2 innings.

Rockhurst (16-23, 10-8 GLVC) plays at McKendree on Sunday.
