Hawks explode for 21 runs in sweeping Graceland

Connor Ellefson posted four hits in Game 2.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Connor Ellefson collected four of Rockhurst's 17 hits to lead the Hawks to a 14-12 victory over Graceland in the second game to complete a doubleheader sweep Wednesday in Lamoni, Iowa.

Ellefson led off the eighth with a single and scored the go-ahead run on a double by Jeremy Lufft. Cameron Dean singled home Lufft to add an insurance run.

The Hawks scored four runs in the second, third and fourth innings to grab a 12-2 lead. Graceland scored 10 unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the score.

Garrett McNally hit a three-run home run in the second and added an RBI single in the third. Dean drove in two runs in the third with a single. Ellefson hit a two-run homer and Nick Pascuzzi doubled home two runs in the fourth.

Brock Collins retired the last 12 hitters of the game to pick up his second win of the season.

The Hawks won the first game, 7-2, behind an 11-hit attack. Rockhurst scored on a wild pitch in the third and plated three runs in the fourth on a three-run double by Lufft.

The Hawks added three runs in the seventh on a double by Michael Ruffolo, a triple by Alex Van Pelt and a single by Corbin Hare. Wylson Lamb, Nic Mertes and Dean each posted two hits. Griffin Fletcher (2-0) allowed two runs on five hits over 7.0 innings.

The Hawks (9-21) host William Jewell for two games on Saturday.
