Power game leads Hawks to 10-3 win over Kearney

Kelsey Tepen hit drove in three runs with a double and homer against Nebraska-Kearney.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Kelsey Tepen homered and doubled to lead Rockhurst to a 10-7 victory over Nebraska-Kearney Sunday in the TMZ Tournament in Joplin, Missouri.

Tepen hit an RBI double in the second and connected o a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Hawks an 8-3 lead.

The Hawks scored seven runs in the fifth, capped by Tepen's home run. Lauren Marks tripled home a run, Emily Truitt drove in two runs with a single and Paige Renner hit a solo home run in the fifth. Hanna Stam added a two-run home run in the sixth.

Marks, Truitt, Renner and Tepen each collected two hits in the win. Shannon Greene (6-5) allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings.

Rockhurst ended the tournament with a 9-5 loss to Northwest Missouri State on Sunday. The Bearcats scored four runs in the sixth to break a 5-5 tie.

Marks led the Hawks with three hits, including a solo home run in the first. Halle Koelliker added two hits and an RBI. Greene took the loss in relief of Renner.

The Hawks opened the tournament on Saturday with a pair of losses to Missouri Southern (3-0) and Northeastern State (7-2). Stam and Truitt each had two hits against Northeastern State.

Rockhurst (6-9) will play two games at Central Missouri on Wednesday.
