Stam leads Hawks to 8-4 win over Missouri S&T

Hanna Stam emptied the bases with a three-run double in Game 1.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Hanna Stam hit a three-run double in the eighth inning to lead Rockhurst to an 8-4 victory over Missouri S&T in the first game of a conference doubleheader Friday at RU's Loyola Park.

Stam's double was set up by three consecutive errors by the Miners. Taylor Rupe added an RBI single to cap the four-run inning for the Hawks.

Rockhurst rallied from a 4-1 deficit to score two runs in the sixth on a home run by Danielle Cross and once in the seventh on a run-scoring single by Emily Truitt, who also had an RBI single in the first inning.

Rupe led the Hawks with three hits. Stam and Truitt each had two hits. Shannon Greene allowed four runs on seven hits over 8.0 innings.

In the second game, the Miners scored an unearned run in the third to blank the Hawks 1-0. Madison Wagner posted two of the Hawks' five hits. Greene (13-13) allowed one run on six hits in 6.0 innings.

Rockhurst (13-18, 7-3 GLVC) plays at Drury on Saturday.
