Hawks fall twice at Missouri Western

Katie Wood led the Hawks with two hits and a run-scoring double in Game 2.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Missouri Western scored four runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 7-5 victory in Game Two and doubleheader sweep over Rockhurst Wednesday in St. Joseph, Missouri.

The Hawks finished with six hits in the nightcap, while the Griffons posted eight hits. Katie Wood led Rockhurst with two hits and a run-scoring double in the fifth.

Danielle Cross hit a two-run home run in the fourth and Lauren Marks added a run-scoring single in the first for the Hawks. Paige Renner allowed five runs on five hits in 3.0 innings.

In the first game, the Griffons shut out Rockhurst 4-0. Marks collected both of the Hawks' two hits. Shannon Greene allowed four runs on six hits in 6.0 innings.

Rockhurst (10-17, 4-2 GLVC) returns to conference play at William Jewell on Sunday.
