Strong pitching leads Hawks to sweep at Drury

Shannon Greene shut out Drury on four hits in Game One.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Shannon Greene and Bridgette Sappington held Drury to one run over 14 innings to lead Rockhurst to a doubleheader sweep over the Lady Panthers Saturday in Springfield, Mo.

The two wins improve the first-place Hawks to 11-3 in conference games and a 22-16 overall record heading into a home twinbill with Missouri S&T on Sunday.

Greene blanked Drury on four hits in a 3-1 victory in Game One. Lauren Cairo drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Danielle Cross and Lexie Zuniga each drove in a run in the seventh. Cairo and Madison Wagner had two hits apiece.

Sappington was the winning pitcher in Rockhurst's 6-1 win in Game Two. She held the Lady Panthers to six hits to improve her record to 16-4.

The Hawks collected 13 hits off two Drury pitchers. Cairo led the offense with three hits. Lauren Marks and Megan Freitag each had two hits with an RBI. Hannah Pyle and Zuniga also posted two hits.
