Sappington posts her 20th victory of the season

Bridgette Sappington won her 20th game of the season in Game 2.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bridgette Sappington posted her 20th win of the season to carry Rockhurst to a 9-1 victory over William Jewell in the second game of a conference doubleheader Wednesday at Loyola Park. The Cardinals won the first game, 6-2.

The split leaves the Hawks with a 17-5 conference record and tied for first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with Southern Indiana with eight games left in the regular season.

Rockhurst broke open Game Two with five runs in the third inning. Hannah Pyle singled home two runs and Lauren Marks added an RBI single. Lauren Cairo capped the uprising with a two-run home run to left-center.

???????Sappington (20-5) allowed one unearned run on three hits with one strikeout. Stam finished with two hits and two RBI. Wagner collected two hits and scored two runs.

Jewell took advantage of five Rockhurst errors to score four unearned runs in Game One. Cairo led the Hawks with three hits, including a two-run double in the sixth. Shannon Greene (7-11) allowed four runs on seven hits over four innings.
