Hawks maintain first place in GLVC standings

Bridgette Sappington pitched four hitless innings to win her 15th game of the season.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst scored five runs in the first inning in cruising to a 6-2 victory over Missouri-St. Louis in the first game of a conference doubleheader Saturday at Loyola Park.

Kelsey Tepen drove in three runs with a two-run single in the first and a run-scoring triple in the sixth. Lexie Zuniga and Megan Freitag added RBI singles in the first.

Bridgette Sappington continued her mastery on the mound. She held the Tritons hitless over the final four innings to improve her record to 15-4. She pitched a perfect game against Maryville on Friday.

UMSL came back to win the second game, 2-1. The Tritons outhit the Hawks, 10-5. Rockhurst scored its only run with the aid of a throwing error in the sixth inning.

The Hawks (20-16) remain in first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 9-3 league mark.
